LAHORE – Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry asked the bar associations and lawyers’ representatives to end their practice of protests at the courts all over Punjab because it hindered the process of dispensing justice to the masses.
“If there is a need for a strike then it should be only for one hour as a token strike. The strikes aim at bringing an issue in the notice of higher authorities and this purpose can be served with a token strike,” said Ijaz while talking to the representatives of bar associations and Punjab Bar Council (PBC), who on Saturday called on him to congratulate on his elevation to the office of LHC chief justice.
The following PBC members met the CJ: Naseem Raiz, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan, Syed Ali Hamza, Zulfiqar Ali, Burhan Muazam Malik, and Mushtaq Mohal. The officer bearers of the bars of Multan, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Gujranwala and Sialkot also congratulated the chief justice. The lawyers assured the CJ of their full support to the judiciary, courts and judges in day to day matters.
Meanwhile, the chief justice visited the office of Punjab Advocate General and advised the law officers, additional advocates and Punjab deputy advocates general to appear before courts with complete case preparation to help the courts in dispensation of justice to the masses.
