‘Pregnant women’s immunisation is EDO’s responsibility’

LAHORE – Monitoring and supervision of routine immunisation of pregnant women and children against different diseases and making the polio campaign a success is prime responsibility of the executive district officers (EDO) Health, Punjab Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad said.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting on Saturday to review progress of routine immunisation and polio campaign in Punjab. He said that stern action would be taken against officers who would fail to achieve the desired targets of immunisation.
Punjab Health Special Secretary Wasim Mukhtar, Punjab Health Director General Dr Muhammad Aslam, EPI Health Director Dr Arshad Iqbal Dar, Management Information System Health Director Dr Muhammad Anwar Janjua, World Health Organisation (WHO) Medical Officer Dr Debra, UNICEF representative Dr Mushtaq Rana and EDOs Health of DG Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Kasur and Okara also attended the meeting.
Dr Debra and Dr Mushtaq Rana presented a third-party evaluation report on routine immunisation and polio campaign in Punjab and pointed out various deficiencies at managerial and operation level in various districts.
