Post-Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital (LGH) Principal Dr Tariq Salahuddin said on Wednesday that dengue patients were being treated with special care at LGH and the number of counters dealing with dengue patients in the emergency ward had been increased.
While presiding over a meeting at LGH, Dr Salahuddin said that all possible measures were being taken to ease the dengue patients and that the weekly off days of the pathology staff had been cancelled to prepare a dengue report without delay. He said that a public address system had been installed in the emergency wards to keep the patients and their attendants aware of the disease.
Dr Salahuddin told the staff to increase the number of staff nurses and student nurses in the emergency as well as the medical wards. He also told the medical superintendent to arrange banners and pamphlets for dengue awareness. Dr Salahuddin said that the quantity of platelets and blood in the hospital blood bank was sufficient but he told the administration to ensure that the supply of medicines and diagnostic facilities was satisfactory.
He also said that the sanitary inspector must ensure that the hospital was clean throughout the three shifts. He added that dengue is a curable disease and that dengue treatment facilities had been extended throughout the province and that social non-government organizations needed to campaign for dengue awareness as well.
