“Afia in Prison, 18th Eid Mubarak”

United States of America (USA) President Barack Obama should release Dr Afia Siddiqui before the emergence of Eid-ul-Fitr however the action would reduce differences between Pakistan and America.
Dr Aafia’s mother, Asmat Siddiqui has said through a press release adding that her release orders will also consolidate the down sloped mandate of US.
Activists of different political parties including Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Muslim Students Federation (MSF), Islami Tehrik Tulaba, Pasban Party, social welfare organisations and civil society under the aegis of “Aafia Movement Pakistan” staged a protest demonstration for the release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui in front of national press club here on Wednesday.
The protestors were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans for release of Aafia Siddiqui and against the US. They were also sending Eid greetings to her by saying “Afia in Prison 18th Eid Mubarak” along with her pictures.
Speakers urged the government to take concrete steps for the release and arrival of Dr Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan from American jail before Eid festival.
They said while speaking to the dozen of participants that US leadership was not representing the sentiments of their nation regarding imprisonment of Dr Afia.
They condemned her illegal custody adding that no charge against her was proved by the court. They insisted that the government of Pakistan should fulfill its promise of bringing Aafia back as she was spending 9th Ramazan in an American jail.
