PCB Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmad said that former captain Shoaib Malik’s inclusion in the squad for upcoming Zimbabwe tour was based on merit and not due to any favouritism. “Although he (Malik) did not play international cricket in the recent years but his domestic performance earned him a place in the team,” he said. The PCB integrity committee cleared Malik of his overseas accounts deposits and made way for his selection.
Malik did not play international cricket since last September after he failed to explain money deposited in his overseas bank accounts. He, however, managed to satisfy the committee after submitting the required documents. He was cleared by the committee during last week and recalled to the Pakistan squad for Zimbabwe tour on Sunday.
“Shoaib Malik is an all-rounder and have the ability to fit in any position. He plays shots with ease and comes up with big hitting keeping the runs coming through singles and doubles. He has displayed good defensive batting at times,” Subhan added. He said that besides batting Malik is a good off-spin bowler and a fine fielder. “His inclusion in the team will boost the morale of other players.” Subhan said that Pakistan coach Waqar Younis had also asked to include Shoaib Malik for the Zimbabwe tour.
Subhan teri qudrat. Shoaib Malik is no different to Raymond Malik. His is upto his neck deep on the wrong side of cricket affairs.Evidence against him is as incriminating as the Haj case. It would be worth keeping an eye on Mr.Subhan's latest bank statement and of the committee colleagues too.
