State Minister for Housing Raza Hayat Hiraj resigned on Tuesday, stating that the government had not fulfilled its promise of making South Punjab a separate province, a private TV channel reported.
Hiraj had sent his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari on August 4, stating that the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) had no need for him, therefore he was quitting his office. He said further that the Pakistan People’s Party had promised accountability but nothing had been done and he longer wanted to be a burden on the taxpayers.
The PML-Q leadership has stopped Hiraj from issuing any statement.
