QUETTA: Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) seized a large quantity of ammunition and arrested two terrorists near Pak-Afghan border who were to carry sabotage activity on 10th of Muharram.
Balochistan FC Deputy Inspector General Shahzad Akhtar said this in a press conference held at FC headquarters on Thursday. He added that intelligence agencies informed FC that anti-state elements would bring arms and ammunition from across the border for carrying out terrorist activities on the eve of 10th Muharram.
He said that FC increased security on all traditional and non-traditional routes on the border, spotted the vehicles during the normal checking and recovered huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from them. He added that if these terrorists had succeeded to reach Quetta along with the explosives and ammunition, they could have played havoc.
He said that the arrested terrorists were Afghan nationals and some revelations were expected from them that might lead the security agencies to arrest their accomplices. The seizure include two numbers of 82 MM mortar shells with secondary devices, 28 hand grenades, two cylinders of improvised explosive device, one remote control, four RPG-7, one SMG along with 200 rounds, 20 KG of explosive, three suicide jackets, 11 detonators, eight packets of ball bearing, one safety fuse, two communication sets, one IED magnetic, two accessories, one RPG-7 charger, three pistols along with 30 rounds, seven RDX Explosives, two detonator cords and three ignition switch.
