Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Saturday the Pakistan government would not allow any country to exploit its water resources, adding that Pakistan had raised the water dispute with India at every international forum.
Addressing participants of the ground-breaking ceremony of Aiwan-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Gilani said the enemy does not possess the potential to harm the seventh nuclear power of the world. He said India had been convinced through dialogue that Pakistan deserved full water share.
He said the government was trying to make Pakistan a true Islamic republic in line with the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He said further that the government wanted to project Pakistan as a peace loving nation.
Paying rich tributes to Jinnah, he said the founder of Pakistan had started his struggle for a separate homeland on the basis of the Two-Nation theory which was the ideology of Pakistan, adding that Jinnah advocated social justice.
The primed minister lauded the brave officers and soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for the country in the war against terrorism and said a nation whose people felt pride in sacrificing their lives for fellow beings could not be defeated.
The prime minister distributed shields among workers of the Pakistan Movement. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also arrived at the venue but left before the ceremony commenced as he had to visit Badin.
Gilani also had a meeting with Federal Minister Mir Israrullh Zehri in which he directed the minister to conduct a feasibility study for installation of solar powered tube wells. He discussed matters related to employment opportunities and developments in Balochistan.
Gilani lauded Zehri’s idea of installation of solar tube wells as they were cost-effective and environment friendly. He said the federal government would help the provincial government in reduction of unemployment in the province.
He said further that government initiatives had created new job opportunities which would prove helpful in the socio-economic uplift of the country.
