Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan has directed all patrolling officers and cops performing duties at pickets to remain `extra vigilant’ in the coming days to provide complete security and protection to citizens in the last ten days of Ramadan and Eid.
“You have performed very well earlier and we have very high expectations from you. Be more responsible in the upcoming days and ensure complete protection of the lives and property of citizens on Eid, when people will depart to celebrate the festival with their dear ones in other cities,” the IGP said while addressing policemen at the National Library Auditorium.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tahir Alam Khan, City SP Muhammad Ilyas, Saddar SP Ch. Liaqat Ali, Industrial Area SP Ishaq Warraich, Rural Faisal SP Bashir Memon, all SDPOs, SHOs, patrolling officers and other policemen were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said Islamabad Police had thwarted several untoward incidents when they timely nabbed terrorists and would-be suicide bombers, which was proof of their active policing.
He also urged policemen posted at pickets to perform their duties in an efficient manner so that citizens felt safer. He added that the patrolling plans of each police station’s jurisdiction must be reviewed, and made further effective through high vigilance and alertness of the concerned officials.
The IGP said senior level police officials should take initiatives to resolve the problems of their subordinates on priority and take necessary measures for their welfare, so that their performance might be further improved. He said a sense of responsibility was necessary to ensure effective policing and this could only be inculcated in the cops by giving them more facilities. He stressed on the need for officials to treat their subordinates kindly.
