ISLAMABAD: The claims of champions of good governance seldom turn out to be realistic, as is evident from the outstanding utility dues against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son, Hamza Shahbaz, who is a member of the National Assembly.
Hamza has so far not cleared utility bills amounting to Rs 452,278 of the parliamentary suite that he had been occupying until last month.
Per details, Hamza was allotted suite No C-107 in the Parliament Lodges, which was transferred to a PPP MNA by the NA deputy speaker.
According to rules, Hamza was required to clear all outstanding dues prior to vacating the suite, but the Punjab chief minister’s son vacated the suite without paying any of the outstanding bills, copies of which are available with Pakistan Today.
The outstanding charges for gas are Rs 206,640, electricity Rs 233,938 and Rs 11,700 are outstanding against telephone usage. The Islamabad Electric Supply Company and Sui Northern Pipelines Limited confirmed that the bills had not been paid. Raza Khan, caretaker of the Parliament Lodges, also confirmed that the said dues had not been cleared.
