Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa on Sunday hinted at the appointment of Justice (r) Javed Iqbal as NAB chairman.
While talking to journalists, the governor said many people had sacrificed their lives for democracy. He congratulated the nation on Independence Day and said Pakistan was envisioned by Allama Muhammad Iqbal and his dream was turned into reality by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He expressed these views on Iqbal’s mausoleum.
He said Javed Iqbal had been an undisputed and neutral judge and he hoped that the opposition would not object to his appointment as NAB chairman. He further said new provinces should be made as the experiment was successful in India and people of rural areas would benefit. He said the government was trying its best to counter poverty, fuel and power shortage and other problems being faced by the nation, adding that the youth could play a vital role in the country’s prosperity.
He urged the nation to foster the mission of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said his party believed in reconciliation and would continue to strengthen democracy.
