LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Senior Central Leader Moonis Elahi said that the people of Punjab are the biggest victims of the ‘target killings wave’ which has now engulfed the whole country.
Referring to the statement made by the Sindh Home Minister on Monday and the recent report of the Human Watch Pakistan which cites the murders of 12 educators of Punjabi origin living in Baluchistan, Moonis Elahi expressed serious concern and dismay at the unfortunate rise in target killings against Punjabis settled in other parts of the country.
Moonis Elahi accused the incumbent provincial government of failing to protect Punjabis within and outside Punjab on account of its incompetence and lust for power. He expressed these views on Wednesday in Lahore during a meeting with a delegation of the workers of Pakistan Muslim League belonging to constituency.
He added that the present Punjab government, due to its poor policies and lust for power had left the people totally vulnerable and unprotected against terrorism, poverty, unemployment and target killings. He added that the incumbent provincial government could not protect the lives or rights of its people as is evident from the role it played in the imposition of various unjust decisions including the NFC Awards, heavy power and gas load shedding schedules and the RGST accord.
“The N League had a long history of using the people of Punjab as a human shield in its nefarious power games. The target killings of Punjabis are highly condemnable and the governments of Sindh and Baluchistan are obligated to ensure the security and well being of all Pakistanis including the people of Punjab living in their respective jurisdictions” he added.
