Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti expressed severe resentment over Thursday’s terrorist attack in Peshawar, saying that terrorists were now deceiving women to fulfil their evil motives.
“I don’t have words to describe people who use women for terrorist acts,” Hoti told reporters. He said such acts were a matter of grave concern for the nation. The chief minister said terrorist groups were trying to dampen the Independence Day celebrations by sending suicide bombers inside the city. However, he said the Peshawar Police was alert and aware of its responsibilities.
Hoti said the provincial government would continue to work on eradicating terrorism from its roots, adding that the government had also extended maximum cooperation and support to the armed forces.
Provincial Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain also expressed concern over the terrorist act which took lives of innocent people. He said Thursday’s acts were a reaction to the recent achievements of police, adding that the Peshawar Police had foiled a suicide attempt on Wednesday night and Thursday by killing two militants and injuring one.
The injured militant Jangrez belonged to commander Tariq’s group from Dara Adam Khel, he said.
Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa President Senator Afrasiab Khattak also condemned the two bomb explosions in Peshawar. He paid tributes to the martyred policemen and said ANP’s government whole-heartedly supported the ongoing war on terror.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Masood Kausar also grieved the loss of precious lives in the bomb blast on Thursday and said such acts were tarnishing Pakistan’s image.
He said terrorism was the worst act of inhumanity and it deserved to be condemned by every member of the society. He said sacrifices of the martyred would always be remembered with great respect. Kausar also prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls.
