Global ICT Co to open telecom centre at UET

Huawei Technologies has recently signed a landmark contract with University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (UET) to set up a state of the art Telecom Centre that will open up new avenues of information and communications technology (ICT) for students.
The company sources say that Huawei has granted UET Lahore the Authorised Learning Partner status for Datacom Networking Training and Certification. Under the contract, Huawei is providing latest networking equipment to UET Lahore, worth $0.5 million which will be set up in the Huawei-UET Telecom center and will be used to train and certify engineers on enterprise networking technology. It is to be noted that Huawei selected UET for setting up the telecom center after evaluating various engineering institutes in the country. As UET Vice Chancellor noted in his speech, UET did its part and provided spacious facility for the center and has promised more lab space for its expansion. This is the kind of public-private partnership that Pakistan needs.
A graceful ceremony took place in UET Lahore where Federal Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecom Saeed Ahmed Khan, Huawei Chief Technology Officer Collin Hu, Huawei Advisor Nasim Ahmed Usmani, UET Lahore Vice Chancellor Let. Gen Muhammad Akram Khan, Deans of Faculties and professors from UET, Lahore and other dignitaries were present. The Chief Guest, Saeed Ahmed Khan, Federal Secretary, Ministry of IT and Telecom highly appreciated the efforts of Huawei and UET Lahore in bringing the latest technology in the academic setting making it available for students from all over Pakistan.
