Moderates, a private sector Think Tank that aims to strengthen tolerance, interfaith harmony and democracy, has supported the division of Pakistan into more administratively manageable smaller units in an effort to improve governance. Moderates Chairman Syed Jawaid Iqbal, while expressing his views on the current debate in the political and social circles has said that it is important that the appointment of administrators of these units should be purely on the basis of merit.
“The increase in number of administrative units will allow leadership to rise from the middle class and not continue in the hands of feudal lords. This will also allow horizontal leadership to emerge instead of the present vertical leadership.”
