Federal audit authorities told the monitoring and implementation committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) was involved in misuse of secret funds.
The committee, which met here with Yasmeen Rehman in the chair to review audit objections of the Cabinet Division, was told by Federal Audit Director General Syed Gulzar Husnain that the IB top brass did not usually produce financial records for audit officials to scrutinise. He said IB was purchasing luxury vehicles and air conditioners with its secret funds.
The PAC’s monitoring and implementation committee expressed anger over IB’s headstrong attitude with federal audit authorities. Cabinet Division officials told the committee that the government had banned procurement of luxury vehicles for government offices.
