FIA arrests human-trafficker

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a human trafficker on Tuesday and recovered 51 passports, two driving licenses, two medical reports for attaining visa and four computerised national identity cards (CNIC) from his possession. FIA Punjab Director Zafar Qureshi said that the agency had received information that the Al-Nasir Travel Agency, Hafizabad was illegally sending intending immigrants to Oman, Malaysia, Dubai and Kuwait on which he directed FIA Gujranwala Circle Deputy Director Shahid Hussain to take action against the travel agency.
Complying with Qureshi’s orders, Al-Nasir Travel Agency’s Hafizabad office was raided and the above-mentioned things were recovered. The raiding team also arrested accused Shabbir Ahmed from the spot, as he failed to provide his license for possessing passports. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
Man killed by brother: A man was killed by his younger brother while his father and other brother sustained bullet injuries over a monetary issue in Batapur police precincts on Tuesday. According to details, the deceased was identified as 42-year-old Tariq, a resident of Mozu Terah, Batapur. The scuffle between Tariq and his brother, Khalid Mehmood, began over a monetary issue.
The argument grew out of control as Khalid started abusing his brother, lost his temper and then shot Tariq thrice. The injured was rushed to a near-by hospital where he succumbed to injuries. Tariq’s father and younger brother, Zahid, tried to control the situation but Khalid also shot his father and brother. The two men were shifted to the hospital, where their condition was said to be stable. The accused fled from the scene after the incident.
Khalid also killed his sister in the name of honour six months ago, and had just returned back home from prison as his father pardoned the murder of his daughter. Police have registered a case against the accused upon the request of his father and began hunting for Khalid.
Hit-and-run: Also, a 17-year-old youth was crushed to death by an over-speeding truck in the jurisdiction of Ravi Road police. The deceased was identified as Rameez, a resident of Sultanpura. Police said that the victim was trying to cross a road in Ravi Road area when he was hit by an over-speeding truck.
The truck driver managed to escape from the crime scene. Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot immediately and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where he died. Later, police handed over the body to the family after the initial medico-legal procedure. Ravi Road police have registered a case against the unidentified truck driver on the complaint of the deceased’s family while further investigations were underway. Separately, a 40-year-old unidentified man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the jurisdiction of Sandha police.
Police said that the deceased was a drug addict and had died due to excessive substance abuse. Some locals spotted the body lying besides the roadside and informed police about it. Upon reaching the spot, police shifted the body to city morgue for autopsy.
