A police officer, his bodyguard and his driver were gunned down by unidentified men in Sariab on Sunday. According to police officer Iskundar Tareen, Sariab Police Station House Officer (SHO) Manzoor Tareen was on his way home from official duty with his police guard and driver in an official vehicle when unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on Manzoor’s vehicle, killing him and two others on the spot.
Their bodies were shifted to a civil hospital for autopsy. Moreover, police arrested over 200 suspects including activists of sectarian organisations in various raids in Sariab after killings of 16 Shias in the past two days. Such police raids had caused armed attacks on police officials in the past, most of which had been claimed by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. However, no one claimed responsibility for the SHO’s murder.
