Decrying the poor quality of the food products available at the state owned utility stores, the Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production on Saturday directed the stores to immediately remove all unhealthy food products and conduct proper quality tests before procuring the same. The meeting of the committee was held with Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in the chair. The committee was briefed on the supply and prices of items of daily use during the holy month of Ramadan.
Senator Ilyas Bilour of ANP shocked the committee by presenting samples of adulterated gram flour (basin) used for Ramadan’s essential delicacy pakoras. He said most of the food items being sold at the state Utility Stores were unhealthy and there was no quality check on their procurement process.

  1. What can you expect from Pervaiz Elahi. Wherever he goes, the corrupt cling to him like bees to a honey web. He will do to the Utility Stores what he did to Punjab in the Paha Likha Punjab drive, When money is being spent on expensive television ads, than the food items being sold at Utility Stores have to be contaminated. Those who watch these Ads have never to go and buy goods at Utility Stores. Remember Moonis Elahi learned these tricks from his father, although he may have excelled in this art, which the family has been involved in for decades.
