Woman killed for resisting robbers

A 58-year-old woman was killed by robbers for resistance at Mehar Fayyaz Colony on Thursday. The victim, identified as Zahida Perveen, was resident of Mehar Fayaz Colony located in Harbanspura. According to Zahida’s family, she was found dead in her house with a noose around her neck. The deceased was living with her husband Ashraf Siddiqui, a driver at a local paint manufacturing company. Valuables such as gold ornaments, cash and mobile phone were found missing after the incident.
Rescuers fail to recover bodies of drowned girls: Rescuers have failed to recover the bodies of two teenage girls who drowned in River Ravi on August 1. The girls, identified as Salma (16) and Khalida (13), were residents of Akram Park Sanda area. According to police, the girls went to River Ravi to feed their animals when one of them went into deep water to wash herself. The other rushed in to save her, however, both of them drowned. Locals immediately informed Rescue 1122, whose officials reached the scene and searched the bodies but failed to recover them. On August 2 rescuers and locals again launched a search operation which continued until Thursday.
