In a bid to halt rampant corruption in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the government sought on Wednesday the complete records of assets of FBR employees from grade 1 to 15. According to the Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) issued by FBR the employees of grade 15 and below have been asked to provide details of their assets by August 15. “The employees are being directed to submit their assets and liabilities for the last fiscal year,” the SRO said.
The employees were told to file the details of the source of their income. They were asked to provide details of their expenses, including utility bills and other household spending.
According to SRO, the employees have been asked to file details of their foreign trips, names of their children’s school and assets disposed of in the last fiscal year. They were also asked to show the details of their bank accounts, investments if they invested in the shape of bonds, shares, certificates or deposits. In the SRO, the Customs FBR secretary has said the decision to seek asset details of the FBR employees has been taken on the directions of the Establishment Division. “The declaration of assets is pre-requisite for the entitlement of 100 percent special allowance, failure to file assets may result in withdrawal of the same,” he added.
