IGP addresses transporters’ concerns

LAHORE: Inspector General Police Punjab Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan directed the Punjab Highway Patrol to facilitate goods transporters and not create unnecessary hurdles for them.

He called on all chief traffic officers to work in close coordination with goods transporters in their respective districts and to “sort out their issues on priority.”

The IGP said this during a meeting with a nine-member delegation representing goods transporters from across the province at Central Police Office on Tuesday.

The delegation was led by All Pakistan Goods Transport Association President Malik Shahzad Awan and Punjab Goods Transport President Malik Faheem.

The delegation discussed issues concerning unnecessary checking and undue issuance of challans on highways with the IGP at length after which the latter issued orders for on spot addressal.

The transporters’ delegation expressed gratitude to the IGP for addressing their concerns.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Punjab Capt (r) Atta Muhammad along with other senior officers were present on the occasion.
