Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday said that health and education sectors were among government’s top priorities despite the fact that both the subjects had been devolved to the provinces. He expressed these views while talking to Mubashar Riaz Shaikh, executive director of Global Health Workforce Alliance, who called on the premier here at the PM’s House. Gilani said that the federal government would remain engaged with the provinces to improve the health and educational facilities.
He appreciated the cooperation of World Health Organisation for its health programmes in Pakistan including those for women and children and training of doctors and nurses. The prime minister approved Mr Shaikh’s candidature for the position of WHO’s Regional Director Eastern Mediterranean Region Organisation (EMRO). He hoped that Shaikh will continue to serve the humanity with the same passion and zeal. Shaikh thanked the prime minister for reposing his confidence in him and the government’s recommendation for his candidature.
