LAHORE: A local court on Wednesday granted bail to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar against a surety bond worth Rs0.2 million in the anti-government hate speech case.
While announcing the reserved verdict, Additional Session Judge Tajammul Shahzad directed to release Safdar on bail.
In the petition, it was stated that the PML-N leader was subjected to political revenge as talking about arranging anti-government movement is the democratic right of opposition parties.
The plea added that Safdar was targeted for being ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law.
On October 21, Captain (r) Safdar was arrested in Lahore and produced before court during which, police’s request for physical remand of the accused was rejected.
