NEW YORK: Outgoing Pakistan ambassador to the UN Maleeha Lodhi has said that atrocities being inflicted on helpless Kashmiris were impacting the lives of the Kashmiri people, specifying women.

A debate was held on the topic of Women’s rights and peace, prosperity in the United Nations Security Council where Pakistan was represented by Lodhi.

Lodhi said that the women in Kashmir were suffering immense mental and physical torture at the hands of Indian troops adding that the curfew imposed on territory has been a hard pill to swallow for Kashmiris.

“But they refuse to bend the knee and give in, becoming more cognizant of what was around them and what their rights are.”

Lodhi said that Indian forces were committing rapes and other nefarious crimes in the disputed land to cultivate an atmosphere of constant fear.
