The recent reported rise in car thefts throughout the country is alarming while the police has been unable to stop these crimes.
The involvement of even the local police with these criminal elements also surfaces from time to time. The same cars are also sometimes used in criminal and terrorist activities.
Whatever the case may be, the citizens demand protection of their lives and property from the state, and it is the police that has been assigned this responsibility. It is important that the authorities should undertake proper reformation of police to improve its capacity and capability, while also removing political and criminal influences from the department.
