13 more killed in Karachi

The government and its allies’ efforts to bring peace to Karachi proved ineffective on Sunday as another 13 people were killed in various incidents of violence in the city, bringing the total number of targeted killings to 112 in the last eight days.
Three activists of the Awami National Party (ANP) were killed in the violence and two were critically injured in the Taiser Town area of Surjani Town by unidentified gunmen. Tension and fear gripped the area after the killings as ANP activists blocked the roads with burning tyres.
Aerial firing was also reported in the area, which resulted in the suspension of daily activities of the residents. A young boy named Zar Wali was also found murdered near Aziz-e-Millat Ground in Sector 11 of Orangi Town. The boy was reportedly a servant who worked in one of the houses of the area. Police also found the bullet-riddled body of an unidentified young man from Lyari Nadi. Another unknown man was killed near Urdu Bazaar on Burns Road.
Separately, an unidentified man was killed and another injured when they resisted robbers who were trying to snatch their mobile phones onboard a public bus. The robbers had gotten on the bus on route A-25 and started robbing passengers in Gulshan Maymar, and opened fire when the passengers tried to resist. The robbers attempted to flee after robbing the passengers but were confronted by a police patrol, and both were killed in the ensuing encounter.
