A man appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Sunday to take notice of the injustices done to him by Irfan Shahid, the son of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Malik Nawab Sher Waseer, who, according to him, has been protecting his son involved in a Rs 9 million fraud case.
While speaking at a news conference at the National Press Club, Kher-ul-Abrar, who belongs from Swabi, said that in 2005, he along with Irfan Shahid, son of MNA Malik Nawab Sher Waseer, NA-76 (Faisalabad-II), started the business of cars with the investment of Rs 12million in F/10 Markaz Islamabad. After one month of the business’s inception, Irfan left the business but did not return Abrar’s share of 9 million which he had invested to start the business.
Abrar said that he had spent his life long savings in the business and the fraud by the lawmaker’s son had pushed him to starvation. He said he had made several requests to Irfan for the money’s recovery but he could not recover a single penny. However, he alleged that the MNA’s son gave him fake cheques of Rs 7 million.
“When I went to get the cheques cashed, I found out that they were fake. After that I registered FIR no 237 on 14/07/07 against the accused with the Shalimar Police Islamabad and another FIR no 1534 on 7/09/07 with Police Station City Mardan Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) but to no avail,” he said. Abrar added that since Irfan belonged to an influential family, no one tried to catch him. “Despite declaring him a proclaim offender, neither the local police nor the Islamabad police arrested him.”
Sharing his plight with media men, Abrar said that his economic condition was worsening with each passing day and he needed media and judiciary’s attention, as according to him, no one else could help him because the alleged fraudulent belonged from the ruling party. Abrar said, “I tried my best to resolve the issue with negotiations but Irfan gave me life threats,” adding that Irfan roamed freely in his village without any fear of law.
The government, he said, should take notice of the situation. “No one should be exempted from the law including the influentials.”
