LAHORE: Inspector-General of Police Punjab Captain (r) Arif Nawaz Khan said that it was his mission to make Punjab Police professionally strong and efficient.

Speaking during an address at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh Lahore, the IGP said, “Police officers and officials will have to win the hearts of the public with good conduct, positive attitude and an extraordinary performance so that mutual trust between police and the public is established.”

“Old and outdated means of investigation should be exterminated and the force should adopt other, more effective modes of investigation,” said the IGP adding that officers found to have committed extrajudicial torture/killing, trespassing power, violating the law etc. would have “strict action taken against them”.

“I had made it clear from the first day that officers and officials who take the law into their hands or trespass their powers have no place in the department as long as I remain IGP,”

“Officials and officers deputed at police stations and all formations should follow the devised SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) and commit themselves to serve the public with dedication, honesty and hardwork,” he added.

The IGP praised Lahore police for providing extraordinary security during Muharram and applauded DIG investigations Lahore Dr Inam Waheed for safely recovering a child kidnapped from Ghaziabad Lahore.

Officials deputed in police stations along with Dolphin, Peru, Anti Riots and traffic police were present during the IGP’s address.

An energetic police squad paid salutations to the IGP on his arrival.
