The Lahore Press Club on Thursday temporarily banned the entry of Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid and also barred journalists from providing coverage to him after his alleged use of insulting remarks for a Geo Tv journalist Nasir, who is suffering from cancer.
Last week during a visit to Rawalpindi’s Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rashid was asked by journalists to assist Nasir who is undergoing cancer treatment there, to which Rashid responded “Para rehne do, in ka ye hi ilaaj hai” (Let him stay here, this is his only treatment)
A press release issued by the LPC, President Zulfiqar Ali Mehto and Vice President Nasira Atiq of the press club strongly condemned Rashid’s behaviour and decided to temporarily ban the Awami Muslim League leader’s entry on club premises to show solidarity with the ailing journalist.
