ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Brig (r) Ijaz Shah has said that the government has no intention to amend the Islamic sections of the constitution.
Talking to a 15-member visiting delegation of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) here on Tuesday, the minister further said that the government has also does not have a any intention to amend the belief on finality of prophet hood from the constitution.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi. The visitors included Maulana Nauman Hashir, Maulana Tahir Aqeel Awan, Maulana Asadullah Farooq, Maulana Aseedur Rehman, Maulana Qasim Qasmi, Maulana Abubakar Sabri, Maulana Afzal Shah Husseini, Maulana Dawood, Maulana Abid Israr, and Maulana Abdul Hadi.
The interior minister underlined that the government decided to link registration of seminaries with the Ministry of Education seeing dignity and honour of Madaris-e-Arabia and clarified that the government is not willing to take any proposal to amend the syllabus of religious seminaries. “The government is all set and united with ulemas and mashaykh to purge the country from extremists and terrorists elements,” he said.
Ijaz Shah said that the social justice system of Islam is very effective and workable for the entire world for guidance and implementation. He urged ulemas and religious sections of the country to publicise the teachings of Islam for the unity of the Muslim brotherhood.
“Elements fanning extremism and sectarianism on account of Islam are not friends of Muslims,” he said while adding that the ruling government is pursuing very effective and explicit foreign and internal policies to uphold the interests of Pakistan.
“Any erstwhile ruler in Pakistan has never raised his voice for a system like the state of Media to be implemented in Pakistan. Pakistan could be transformed on the same pattern when all the respective sections of governance and society play an effective role in this regard,” he added.
“The government is devising a strategy to award government degrees to students of seminaries to provide them with better opportunities to excel in life,” he said.
Further, he said that the usage of religion and decree for personal pursuits is very unfortunate. “Ulemas should play an effective role to expose the elements responsible for fanning anarchy and chaos in society. These elements who issue decree for their political and personal advantages should be discouraged,” he added.
The interior minister also revealed that Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Amir Muhammad bin Salman had included Pakistan in road to Mekkah Project on the special request of Prime Minister (PM) Imran khan.
Speaking on this occasion, PUC Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi stated that the council, since its inception has been struggling for stability in Pakistan and to uphold dignity of Islam and Muslims.
PUC, with the consent of all the leading religious schools of thought, had issued a decree against the menace of terrorism and extremism back in 2000 and is united with the government to keep a check on elements responsible for anarchy in the country through social media.
He also lauded initiative of the ruling government to link registration of seminaries with the Ministry of Education adding that PUC will endorse all positive undertakings of the government but also hold it accountable for unconstitutional and anti-Sharia undertakings.
Ashrafi also announced that masajid and madaris will not be part of any movement responsible for creating chaos in the country while concluding that Madaris-e-Arabia has no political agenda and pursuits before them.
