KARACHI: The supply of water to Karachi was slightly suspended after a power breakdown at the Dhabeji Pumping Station in the wee hours of Saturday.

Pumping of water to the city has been suspended for hours on Saturday owing to a major electricity breakdown.

According to Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), the 72-inch pipe burst due to the backlog of water when the power supply to the station was suspended.

The impact of the short supply of water would be felt in different areas of the metropolis, including Landhi, Korangi, Shah Lateef Town, Quaidabad, Gulshan, Malir, and some other parts.

The KWSB officials said it would take at least 8 to 10 hours to get the water pumps functional at their normal capacity again. The board has asked people to conserve water and not to waste it. The official said that over 20 million gallons of water was supplied to the city.
