KARACHI: Upon the directives of Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam, the police department has taken back security from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders.

According to the report, the police guard deputed for the security of provincial ministers Syeda Shehla Raza, Saeed Ghani, MNA Agha Rafiullah, amongst others, was withdrawn.

Additional police mobiles assigned to the lawmakers were also summoned back to the headquarters.

The police personnel were deployed for the security of the PPP stalwarts at the directives of the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the wake of threats.

While commenting upon the development, Saeed Ghani said that he never asked for the increased number of the police guards.

When police informed us of the increased security threats, we agreed, he added.

In April last year, over 12,600 police personnel deputed for the security of unauthorised persons across the country were withdrawn on Saturday in compliance with the order of then Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.
