LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Managing Director Khalid Nazir gave instructions to the operational staff to clean the city in 72 hours or go home.

He also directed that all operational staff should remain in the field in the next 3 days without any exemption.

In this context, a special cleanliness operation with extraordinary arrangements was initiated on Wednesday.

The LWMC chief said that all aspects of the cleanup operation – manual sweeping, mechanical sweeping washing and plot clearance followed by the presence of workers at choking points— would be closely monitored.

“To maintain cleanliness is our utmost priority and in this regard, the company will not tolerate any sort of negligence,” he said.

Meanwhile, Turk contractors also have been asked to actively participate in this operation, he added.

LWMC GM Operations Sohail Malik paid surprise visits to multiple areas of the city and suspended the supervisor of Union Council 63, served a final warning to Zonal Officer Malik Yusuf and served explanation to Assistant Manager Operations Saad for poor performance.

He said that LWMC would not bear any sort of negligence over maintaining cleanliness.

A spokesperson of the LWMC urged the citizen to cooperate with LWMC and file a complaint on Helpline 1139 or use LWMC mobile application Clean Lahore.
