KARACHI: According to the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) released financial details of provincial legislators on Friday, leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) were unveiled as the richest lawmakers of the Sindh Assembly.
According to the assets details released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah owns two vehicles whose combined worth is Rs14.2 million, have Rs160 million bank balance, while his spouse owns over one-kilo gold jewelry.
Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Firdaus Shamim Naqvi owns Rs168.4 million value assets.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and sister of former president and party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur, owns assets over Rs380 million making her the richest member of Sindh Assembly.
Although, according to the released asset details, she owns nothing overseas and has around one-kile gold jewelry.
Her daughters, Fatima Talpur and Ayesha Talpur, own assets amounting Rs33.1 million and Rs140 million respectively.
Asif Zardari’s other sister, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, owns assets worth over Rs100 million, while senior PPP leader Shehla Raza has assets worth over Rs10.8 million.
Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani has declared Rs64 million assets with the ECP.
Former provincial minister Sharjeel Memon has declared assets worth more than Rs370 million in value. He also declared three kilograms of gold, ECP said. Sindh minister Syeda Shehla Raza’s declared assets are worth Rs18 million.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MPA Kunwar Naveed Jameel owns assets worth 52.3 million, while his party colleague and former leader of opposition in Sindh Khawaja Izhar have assets worth Rs11.7 million, according to the election commission.
Haleem Adil Shaikh, a PTI MPA from Sindh has declared assets worth 19.3 million, while his party colleague Khurram Sherzaman has declared over 50 million rupees assets with the election commission.
