SUKKUR: After the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah on alleged drugs possession, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed Shah on Thursday urged political workers to “check their vehicle’s trunks before travelling”.
Speaking to media in his constituency in Sukkur, the former opposition leader said, “If the government wants to improve the economy by putting us [opposition] in prison, it is entitled [to do so].”
“We have no issue with it. The prime minister has never been to prison, but we have,” he said.
Responding to a question regarding the arrest of Rana Sanuallah, the PPP stalwart said, the public better check their [car] trunks before travelling.
“If it is in the interest of the nation to throw us in prison, then they should put the entire opposition behind bars,” he said, adding that “the arrests are made only to hide Imran Khan’s failures”.
While commenting upon the government, Shah said that the employment ratio is decreasing and we [opposition] is helpless. “Where is tabdeeli,” he quipped.
“What used to cost us a rupee before the rise in inflation, now costs two and a half rupees. The PTI government before coming into power knew what the economic condition of the country was,” he added.
