National Assembly (NA) members have been urged to avoid using the word “selected” for Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In this regard, a ruling was issued by Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri on Sunday in which the use of the word for the Leader of the House constitutes an insult to the entire House. He said that using the word was contrary to the rules of procedure and conduct of business.

The ruling came in response to a point of order raised by Federal Minister for Energy Umer Ayub Khan. The minister said that calling the Leader of the House “selected” was a breach of rules and an insult to the entire House. He urged the members to avoid using this word in the future.
