Two policemen gunned down in Karachi

KARACHI: Two policemen were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire at them in Orangi Town area of the provincial metropolis in wee hours of Monday.

Reportedly, the incident took place in Orangi Town No 4 area at around 8 am in which two policemen, identified as Sepoy Allah Ditta and Sepoy Ahmed Ali, were killed.

According to Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) West, Shaukat Khatiyan, two officials of the Sindh police were on the routine petrol when motorcycle-riding assailants opened fire at them.

SSP Shaukat further said that the incident seemed like an instance of targeted killing however a probe is underway to know the exact details.

A police team reached the site and cordoned it off to collect evidence. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Karachi Police Chief Ameer Sheikh has summoned a report from SSP Shaukat regarding the incident.
