PAKPATTAN: Police on Sunday arrested a suspect in the rape and murder case of a four-year-old girl in Pakpattan.
Pakpattan District Police Office (DPO) told media persons that the suspect happened to be the victim girl’s maternal uncle and allegedly murdered her after sexually assaulting her.
He added that police recovered the body of the girl from an abandoned field after suspect provided information during interrogation.
Police arrested the accused earlier and during the interrogation at the police station, he confessed to having committed this gruesome crime, the DPO explained.
He added that police have gathered all the relevant samples from the crime scene, including DNA, and have despatched them to the forensic lab for examination.
Before the arrest of the suspect, legal heirs of the deceased girl had registered a first information report (FIR) against their rivals.
