Supreme Court has rejected government’s plea seeking more time for the appointment of NAB Chairman.
According to a private television channel, the federal government had filed an application in SC and sought an extension in the deadline for Chairman NAB’s appointment.
Two-member bench of Supreme Court comprising of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali conducted a hearing of the plea and rejected it.
The application was submitted by Attorney General KK Agha on behalf of the government, pleading that the hearing of judicial review in the Justice Deedar Shah case was still underway, therefore the deadline for the appointment of the Chairman NAB be extended.
According to the application, the issue of the appointment of NAB Chairman is already under process in the court.
The SC had given a month to the government for the appointment of Chairman NAB and the Prosecutor General. The deadline given by the Supreme Court has already ended.
