Govt to cut expenditure to develop tribal districts: PM Imran

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday said provision of basic facilities to the people of newly merged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is top priority of the government.

He said the government would try to cut its expenditures for the development of erstwhile FATA.

He was talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan who called on him in Islamabad on Saturday.

He said the government is also giving special focus on the provision of basic facilities to less developed areas of Balochistan. He said many people of these areas have sacrificed for the prosperity of country, adding that government would try to create job opportunities for the people of less developed region.

The meeting reviewed developmental projects in newly merged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also discussed issues related to less developed areas.

Minister for Communication Murad Saeed, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to PM on Political Affairs Naeemul Haq were also present in the meeting.
