Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has called Prime Minister Imran Khan’s close aide Naeemul Haque ‘sick’ after he criticised the protocol taken by some VIPs and ministers.

When asked about Haque’s remarks in a press conference, the railways minister said, “Naeem ul Haque is sick. Pray for him.”

He further said that former president Asif Ali Zardari and ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif cannot come into power ever again.

PM’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs Naeemul Haque had earlier in the day criticised protocol being used by VIPs and ministers in a tweet, saying, “A large number of VIPs and ministers are still promoting VIP culture by having police squads accompany them everywhere.”

He said that it is against the directives of the prime minister. “Police squads are allowed to only those who face a real threat to their lives. This practice must stop,” he added.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had announced adopting simplicity and austerity policy when it came into power. Although many practical examples have been seen in this regard, many government representatives continue to violate the government’s claims.

Critics say that the PTI had claimed to save costs and protect the public’s money, but seeing the security, protocol, and expenditure of government officials, it seems that the claims are limited to the extent of political slogans.
