The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday constituted a seven-member election commission to elect the party’s central office bearers. Nawaz Sharif and Sartaj Aziz are all set to become the PML-N’s central president and secretary general respectively on July 27.
The Election Commission comprises of Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, M Hamza, Syed Mamnoon Hussain, Changez Khan Marri, Pir Sabir Shah, Shah Ghulam Qadir and Haji Akbar. Election of the party’s provincial office bearers will be held after the central office bearers are elected. A source in the PML-N said there was consensus in the party’s top command that Nawaz Sharif and Sartaj Aziz will be elected party’s president and secretary general respectively as no party member will submit nomination papers against them.
“Ahsan Iqbal will take the position of additional secretary general while Senator Pervez Rashid will be the information secretary. Senator Raja Zafarul Haq will remain party’s chairman while Makhdoom Javed Hashmi will be elected as the senior vice president of PML-N,” the source added.

  1. What is the use of constituting election commission when there will be no election. Looks like, all the members have been coerced not to challenge the nominees and favourites of Nawaz Sharif. This clearly shows all party members are afraid of the Sharif brothers and don't want to offend them and risk being thrown out of the party, if they present themselves as alternative candidates. All of them are like sheep being led by a lion. Where is the media? Can’t they point out this farce?
