–PML-N VP says govt afraid of protests because it came to power through back door

After Islamabad Police used force to disperse Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers who had gathered to express support for party chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz condemned the violence against the “peaceful” PPP workers.

In a tweet in the evening, the former first daughter also alluded to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in in 2014, wherein the leaders of the incumbent ruling party had attacked parliament, Prime Minister House and PTV building in Islamabad.

In an oblique reference to PTI’s 2014 ‘dharna’, she said that the individual who had attacked the parliament, PM House and PTV, and held the capital hostage for four months could not tolerate a small protest for a day because he was scared.

Referring to alleging rigging in the general elections, she said these protests get PTI govt’s goat because the party has come to power by stealing people’s mandate.
