SHIKARPUR: A man in Shikarpur murdered his wife after she was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
The incident took place in Tharo Rind area of Shikarpur where a man strangled his wife with the help of his brother for being ‘characterless’ after she was found HIV positive.
The man has been identified as Bahadur Rind. His wife Zareena’s dead body was found hanging from a tree outside his house.
The locals said that Bahadur Rind was upset after his wife Zareena was diagnosed with HIV AIDS in recent tests. He feared that other members of his family will contract the disease from his wife.
He was forcing his wife to go back to her parents’ place so he could marry another woman but Zareena resisted. This led to a domestic fight; following which he strangled her to death.
Police reached the scene of the crime and shifted the dead body to Garhi Yaseen Taluka Hospital for post-mortem.
Police arrested accused Bahadur Rind. He is in custody in Dakhan police station. Police is also conducting raids for arrest of the co-accused in the incident.
