SC orders transfer of LDA DG

LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered transfer of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Amna Amir according to her grade besides taking no action based on victimisation against her.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan heard the contempt of court case filed by Amna Amir.

It is to mention here that the Anti-corruption department Punjab registered cases against the DG LDA over Orange Line Metro Train project’s construction work.

LDA DG Amna Amir were transferred over the cases and Amna Amir filed petition in the Supreme Court over the matter.

During the course of proceedings, Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that DG LDA should be posted according to her grade and court orders should be implemented in this regard.

He also ordered the Anti-corruption department to withdraw cases against the DG LDA and remarked that contempt of court proceedings would be initiated over violation of court’s orders.

The Counsel for Punjab government said that two FIRs registered against DG LDA will be dealt with as per law.

DG LDA said that her promotion process stands stalled due to registration of two cases against her by anti-corruption.

Later, the court wrapped up the case on the assurance from Punjab government.
