Individual Land Pakistan, a non-profit Organisation, is holding the first series of its workshops from July 25 to July 27, 2011, on sensitisation of media on gender equity in nine districts. The media personnel from print, TV and radio will participate in the sensitisation sessions of the workshops which are being held under USAID-supported Gender Equity Program (GEP), with the support of Aurat Publications and Information Service Foundation and in collaboration with The Asia Foundation. The objectives of the initiative are to sensitise the electronic and print media regarding the issue of women empowerment and to use it as a medium for advocacy.
The US government launched a five-year gender equity program in Pakistan in 2011 to boost women’s human rights and support Pakistani government’s policies against gender inequities. The grants under this project are aimed at eliminating gender-based violence, easier access to human rights for women and women empowerment.
