AIDS cases in Ratodero surge to 571

RATODERO: The Sindh Health Services director general in a summary presented on Monday confirmed that 571 HIV/AIDS positive cases have been detected in Ratodero taluka from April 25 to May 18, 2019, in which 279 (48.9 per cent) are male and 292 (51.1 per cent) are female.

The age group distribution among the reported HIV cases revealed that most affected age group was 2-5 years, totalling 315 cases which make 51.1 per cent, followed by age group of 6-15 years, totalling 106 cases which make 18.6 per cent.

Further, 93 infected belonged to the age group between 15 and 45 years that make 16.3 per cent and the age group of 46 and above cases are 14 which make 2.4 per cent.

The summary also added that all cases were positive on the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) by the Sindh AIDS Control Programme.
