Balloting to allot additional Hajj quota postponed

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has postponed the second balloting for distribution of additional quota among the unsuccessful applicants of Government Hajj Scheme, a spokesman of the ministry said Sunday.

In a statement, he said the new date of balloting would be announced after getting approval from the federal cabinet.

It merits to mentioning here that the Saudi government had given additional quota of 16,000 to Pakistan. Out of which at least 60 per cent will be allocated to the remaining applicants of the Government Hajj Scheme, who were declared unsuccessful in recent balloting.

All unsuccessful applicants would be included in the balloting despite withdrawing money from their respective bank branches. However, they would have to deposit dues within four days of their selection.

This year 216,542 applications were received, out of which 107, 526 were declared successful in a balloting conducted on March 11.
