–Former military ruler cites ‘medical reasons beyond his control’ as the reason

Former military ruler General (r) Pervez Musharraf will not return to the country to face the high treason charges against him because of “medical reasons beyond his control”.

He was scheduled to return to Pakistan on May 1 to attend the court hearing as he had been warned by the apex court that if he missed the hearing, a verdict would be announced. But a day before the hearing, he requested the court through his counsel Salman Safdar that the case be adjourned till after Ramzan as he is suffering from a life-threatening medical condition.

Musharraf also submitted a medical certificate and photographic evidence to support his claim. He prayed the court that since his absence was because of factors beyond his control, he should be granted relief.
